Extra Band Opportunities
MSBOA All-State Band
The MSBOA All-State Band is the highest honor a student can receive in any band program. There are just about 2,000 students from accross the state at about 100 different schools. We are very fortunate to have had multiple students from the Anchor Bay Program be able to participate in this amazing Band.
MSBOA District 16 Honor Band
Students at the Middle School Level will be nominated to be a member of the MSBOA District Honors Band. The students who are nominated will then be chosen by a committee full of District 16 band directors. If chosen, then students will get perform a concert with a very well renounced band director with some of the best middle school musicians in South-East Michigan.
MSBOA Solo and Ensemble
Solo and Ensemble is a performance Opportunity to either do a solo and/or perform in a small group with friends. Students will be judged by a professional musician that specializes in their instrument. Student will be expected to practice on their own time to prepare music for their performance. Solo and Ensemble is commonly held at Rochester High School. Please see the documents below for more information.
Registration form WITH PAYMENT is Due Friday, NOVEMBER 1st. Turn into Mr. Fenton.
Students doing a solo MUST be taking private lessons.
If students are doing a group outside of the group assigned in class, they must get their group approved by Mr. Fenton
DSO Civic Youth Ensemble
Since its founding in 1970, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra's Civic Youth Ensembles (CYE) has grown to provide musicians of all ages a comprehensive music education experience. CYE’s mission is to cultivate every student's artistic and creative potential through rewarding musical experiences while developing meaningful skills outside the arts.
CYE consists of two full orchestras, four string orchestras, three wind ensembles, and three jazz ensembles, as well as several chamber ensembles and jazz combos. Led by dedicated and masterful music directors, each ensemble offers a unique opportunity for students at all skill levels seeking musical experiences beyond the classroom. CYE provides students with the chance to perform at historic Orchestra Hall and to learn from Detroit Symphony Orchestra musicians.
Financial aid is available for qualifying students.
